same room fun

We moved the girls into the same room after we got back from holidays and everyone had recovered from our many illness'. It seems to be going great - they usually have a chat and then drift off after about 5 minutes or so. I still put T to bed in her old room during the day so that the day naps are for as long as either of them want - because in the mornings they love to wake each other up.. This morning it was M doing the waking - which is rare - its usually the other way round.

sick sick sick

We are experiencing for the very first time what it is like to have two babies very sick at the same time. Both of us are also sick now, so its great fun. Its hard to care in the middle of the night that they want you there with them holding them all night whilst they sleep when you are lacking so much of it yourself. M doesnt want anything to do with "no daddy" which is now the offical new name of Cade. She just calls out "muuummmm muuuummmmm" at all hours of the day and night. T is having a hard time with the coughing part of the illness and its causing her a lot of pain every time she has to cough. Both of them have been of their food which is very strange for us to deal with as they both love their food so much. Its very hard to be excited about #3 coming along in December as we dont know what to do when all 5 of us will be sick...

bed time

M moved into a "big girls bed" last night. She was very excited about Daddy "making the bed" and Mummy putting the new fairy sheets on - the look on her face was priceless. She looked so cute in there, I just wanted to climb in next to her and cuddle her!

The night went well and this morning she woke a little bit earlier than normal, but she had dropped her wrap and was on the floor looking for it. I climbed into bed with her for a little while until she decided it was "up time". She has just gone back to bed for her first day time sleep - so we will see how she goes with that!

update

T has really started to talk more and more over the past week, she is much more singsongy with all of her noises and laughs at everything.

M has had a developmental language burst, she is singing more and more songs and picking them up so quickly - she loves it when she can sing them back to you. She is talk talk talk about anything and everything.

M has also now got enough hair to put into a pony tail!! It only lasted about 10 minutes - but I had it all up! T still has nothing!

T has started standing and pulling herself up onto anything that she can get a hold of. She was pulling herself up on M yesterday and it ended in tears, but she is getting very strong. She loves to walk around pushing a little trolley that we have.

M also knows about the "bubby mummys tummy" and loves to talk to my belly and give it kisses and tickles. I ask her what the baby is doing and she says "growing". We have the ultrasound on the fridge and she walks around the house with it. We say "is it going to be a boy or a girl" and she answers back "a bubby". Very cute!

Talking it up

My girls love to talk - which is great, cause I love to hear them talk. Its so amazing watching how their speech is developed and what words have been easy or hard to pick up.

M was saying her name before she was 1 and really tries hard to say words back to you - unless she thinks that she cannot say it! M would talk in her sleep if we listened carefully enough. She comments on everything that is going on in our day. She talks to her toys and to our animals and to anyone that will listen. She uses 3,4 &5 word sentances more and more every day. When we are driving in the car, she will just sit there and tell me all about what she can see out her window. She loves to look for the moon at the moment and also keeps asking about school - "Maisie school?" "Maisie school bus?". She has also started saying "me", so where before it was "daddy come sit maisie", its now "daddy come sit me". She is calling T by her full name now, but when she really wants her attention, she will call her "sister" just to get the point across!

T is saying the "mummmmummm" and "daadddaaaadda" with the naa and the baa sounds as well, but she has just started doing this weird growling voice - like she is trying to be a scary little monster or something. I think she pbly got it from M, but she does it all the time now - and it sounds crazy! She will be making the most beautiful little noises, and then all of a sudden - RAHHRRAHHAHHHA, right from down the back of her throat. She has a really great laugh that comes all the way from her belly, and she loves it when her sister will laugh back at her, they go on and on and on until they are all laughed out!

HAIR!!

So, both M & T were born with little hair on their tiny teeny heads, which meant that its been a slow and steady growth up to now.

M has a nice full head of hair which can kind of be pulled back into a pony tail, but not without 100 clips holding it up. T has been exactly the same - slowly slowly getting there, with nothing really at all going on as yet. They both have a blonde look at the moment and T looks like she may have a tad of redish blonde going on - but it is really too soon to tell.

Its been a hard road to travel down, as all the other kids around them have a massive amount of hair - and they get called boys all the time.

Neither of them have had haircuts as yet - so it will be interesting when we have to go for the first time - I think I will cry at the fact that its taken so long to get a nice head of hair, and someone will be cutting it off to put in the bin!!

Crawling

T crawled for the first time over the weekend whilst we were staying at Mum and Dads house. She is crawling up on all fours, which is different from the way M crawled - commando style.

She is getting her way around the house really well and is pleased that she isnt always stuck on her belly now!

sleeping beauty (s)

M & T have been great sleepers.

We were very blessed from day one with M. She slept thru the night at five weeks, which was fabo! She slept in a crib that we used from a work friend and then she moved into her own cot when she was 7 weeks old.

She would sleep from 10pm to 6am and then fall back asleep with me in our bed after Daddy had left for work and then we would hop up and have some breakfast and a play and then she would be back down for a morning sleep and then would have an afternoon sleep and then back to bed at 7:30pm. She didnt drop the morning sleep until after we moved to WW, so she was pbly about 15/16 months old.

At the moment she sleeps from 7:30pm - 7:30am (approx) and has one lunch time sleep that is around 1-3 hours long, depending on what we have been doing. She sleeps in her cot with Big Teddy, George, Schntiz & Blue Teddy. She has a pink wrap and a pink "happy". She can fall asleep without the happy, but usually asks for it.

The first time that we gave her the happy was when she was about 4 weeks old and was having trouble settling one sunday night, so we gave it a try and it worked, so it stayed... I continue to struggle with whether or not I should take it from her, but it provides her with comfort and she falls straight asleep when she has it, so I still dont know what to do.

T was a very up and down sleeper in the first few weeks of life, but that could have been due to the fact that we moved town and house when she was 4 weeks old. She finally settled into a good sleeping routine when she was around 10 weeks old, which is when she slept thru the night for the first time.

Before we moved, she was sleeping in a cradle from a friend because we were trying to sell the house, so had packed up the other cot already. She was in our room which meant neither of us got much sleep because she tossed and turned all night! When we moved, she went into a little room that was just off our bedroom and she was in her big cot in there.

She sleeps with a white happy and a purple teddy and purple hippo and also a monkey (that hasnt been named as yet).

At the moment, T sleeps from 7:30 - 7:30 (approx) and then has a morning sleep at 9am for about an hour and then also has a lunchtime sleep at about 1pm. If she is really tired in the afternoon, she will have a nap between 5-6pm, which sometime she really needs if it has been a big day.

Both girls were wrapped up whilst they slept for a long time. M went until she was around 9 months and T went until about 7 months, when she would roll over and get stuck. At the time that T stopped being wrapped, she started scratching her face, so to stop this we were putting little socks on her hands. This also helped with the cold weather!

I think they get their love of sleep from their Mumma!

22 & 9 months young - 18/4/2008

M is 22 months and 6 days and T is 9 months today. This first post is a catch up, hopefully they wont all be this long!

M counted to 10 today by herself, but went 1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4,6,7,8,9,10. We were in the middle of a game of hide and seek and she was very proud of herself. She is speaking so much - every day she picks up new things to say. She is putting more and more words together to make sentances and she really knows what she wants and what she does not want.

T is almost crawling, she got up on all four points today, a really good yoga student! She almost crawled at playgroup, but stopped at the last second. She is getting frustrated from being on her belly so much, and has learnt to go backwards and sit up from lying down.

They both interact with each other more and more now, with singing and dancing games the favourites. M loves to do the Hokey Pokey and likes to pick what will go"in" next. T sits up and watches her whilst clapping and bouncing along to the song. They love having their bath time together and a new game is splashing each other, which makes the bathroom nice and wet, but they both have a great time doing it.

M is having one day sleep, which is straight after lunch time and usually goes for 1-3 hours. T is having 2 or 3 day sleeps still, with the one before morning tea and then lined up with M at lunch time. Sometimes she needs a late afternoon nap, which is around 5ish. They both go to bed at 7:30pm and usually sleep thru to around 7am. We have a great night time routine happening at the moment that is working well for both of them.

M is just getting her 2 year old molars, with the bottom two coming thru at the moment. She got all her teeth really quickly, which I will document later. T has got her bottom two teeth and it looks like more on the way.

Both girls love their food, with both of them eating 1.5 weetbix for breakfast and then sometimes toast as well. They both love fruit and vege, and pasta and rice is a favourite meal any night of the week. They snack on dried & fresh fruit, vegemite sandwiches and arrowroot biscuits. M has started having tiny teddies every now and then as well which is a big treat! They both love drinking water and milk. T is still having 3 b/f a day, but its looking like we will be dropping one of them soonish. She will drink out of a bottle, so if we have to do that we can.

M is wearing size 2 clothes mainly now, apart from some size 1 that still fits. She has always been right in the middle of the "grade" of sizing. T is in 0, and still in a couple of things that are 00. She seems to be on the higher side of the scale. They have matching stockings at the moment to wear under their dresses, and they look very cute.

Both of them love to spend time outside, which suits us all fine. M plays in the garden and digs around looking for worms and T is happy to sit on the grass and let the dog lick her feet. M esp loves going to the park, and we go at any opportunity that we can. M also enjoys Hide and Seek which we play around the house. Tonight she hid herself really well for the first time, away in our dark bedroom which was great!

The girls have daddy time on a saturday morning, which in summer worked well, as I could feed T and then go back to bed, and they would go out. But now that its winterish weather, its too cold to go out so early, so they have been waiting until after Ts morning nap. We also have play time as a family after dinner and before bath time.

We are currently going to church@5, which is good. We have started "toddler time" for M and W who love to sing "My God is so BIG". We usually do a craft and a story as well. M loves her bible time in the evenings with us. Her favourite story at the moment is Jonah and the big fish and she enjoys finding Jesus in the NT. She can also name John the Baptist, Rebekah- Isacs wife, Mary and all the animals.

We have just started listening to Louises tape that she gave to us at breakfast and lunch time and M has started to pick up some of the words to the songs. We have Justine Clarke playing in the car and as soon as we start the car she asks "sing" and we put it on. The song most requested in the last week has been "rain", and she can finish off the last words in most of the lines. She loves dancing to the Wiggles, and has done so since she was about 12 months old.

Well, thats enough for now. This whole idea was given to me by my sister in law, who had everything written down in books. I thought that this might be an easier way of doing it - we will see how it goes.

the start

i was going to start this sooner than what i have, but i will do my best to try and keep up with it now that its here.

this is a record of what i want to record for my children, of what they are doing and where they are up to. its not for comparing or bragging, but just because.

its mainly for my records so i can actually remember things and delight in the goodness that God has given to me.
